New to authenticator apps? Start here
An authenticator app creates a temporary six-digit code on your phone. You enter that code here after using your email sign-in link. This extra check helps protect student records and private advisor notes.
First time: connect your app
- Get an app. On your phone, open the Apple App Store or Google Play and search for Google Authenticator (published by Google) or Microsoft Authenticator (published by Microsoft). Choose one. If you already use an authenticator, you can add Insightfull to it. Follow your organization’s guidance for work devices.
- Start setup here. After signing in, choose Open advisor dashboard, then Set up my authenticator. Keep this page open on your computer.
- Add Insightfull in the app. In the authenticator, choose the add-account or + option and scan the QR code shown on this page. In Microsoft Authenticator, choose Other account. Use the scanner inside the authenticator app.
- Enter the code here. Find the new Insightfull entry in your app. Type its current six-digit code into Authenticator code on this page, then choose Verify and open dashboard. You only connect the app once.
Using the same phone for both? Choose Cannot scan the QR code? during setup and enter the setup key manually in your authenticator. Keep that key private.
Adding a second app
After email sign-in, choose Add another authenticator. Verify a code from your existing app first, then create and scan the new QR code in your additional app. Confirm its code to finish. Your existing app stays active. If you connect more than one, you can choose which authenticator to use at sign-in.
When you sign in again
Use your email sign-in link, choose Open advisor dashboard, then open your authenticator and enter the current code for Insightfull. The code changes regularly; if it changes before you finish, use the new one. You do not need to scan the QR code again. This is a code you read in the app, not a text message or an approval notification.

If a code is rejected, wait for the next code and try again. Make sure your phone’s date and time are set automatically.
No suitable device, lost access to your app, or changing phones? Contact the Insightfull representative who invited you for help. This pilot does not yet offer self-service authenticator recovery or a text-message alternative. Keep your current authenticator until access on your new device is confirmed.
Enter your sign-in code only on the Insightfull sign-in page you opened. Do not send anyone your code, QR code, or setup key.
